40_cake_erin1.pnghey! okay... let's start with last monday - June 21st - when I busted out of my 30's and crossed the line into my 40's. I'm okay with it. Had a nice little bbq at my giggleaunt judy's house with family.

Tuesday, the morning after (sans hangover since I didn't have any alcohol whatsoever on my birthday), I woke up to a phone call from a client who said their accountant was going through the books and they needed to cut back on my $$$. if that didn't drive me to drink, I don't know what will --- okay... actually, I didn't have the money to go out drinking since I heard that news.

gigglemom and i have been strapped for cash for a bit. since a few clients have been opting out of the social networking scene, that's hit me kinda hard. so, my car payment and utilities and the effing mortgage are creating the perfect storm of "holy SHITE!" here in the gigglehousehold.

so, with the threat of electricity being shut off and the constant calls from my credit union (who has the title to Phooka, my MINI) and the sickening feeling of losing a client, I popped on indeed.com, monster and craigslist (well, i popped on those sites AFTER calling my headhunter to see if they could keep an eye/ear open)

the first ad i see on craigslist is for a company 7 minutes away from home. awesome! they needed a webmaster. fantastic! they needed someone who knows social networking stuff. HEY! that's me! so I shot a resume off to them... and the next morning, I received a phone call asking if I'd come in for an interview. yep. So, this past monday (the 28th, for those keeping track) I went to the place and met with the owner/publisher (it's an airbrush magazine which is cool in and of itself) and within an hour, I was offered the position! HUZZAH!

Because I had a prior commitment to do another client's website -- and launch it by tomorrow -- I said I could start next week. They asked if I could come in at least one day this week. Sure. Why not?

So, yesterday, for the first time in 4 years, I went to a 9am-5pm job and didn't work from my couch.

I must say it was AWESOME! Creative freedom, 4 other people in the office, excellent personalities on each one of them... just an overall wonderful atmosphere and feeling. Not to mention that I will get a steady paycheck and not have to worry about hunting money down or biting my nails wondering if I'll have the rug pulled out from underneath me because the economy is killing comedians.

That's not to say that I won't be freelancing and doing sites/updates/etc at NIGHT for my clients (or new clients) --- I need to do that still... because I love designing for comedians.

But, at least I can take a moment to breathe a little easier.

Oh and the other day, I received a phone call from the accountant I'd mentioned early on. My client still wants to work with me, but instead of a set monthly fee, I'll be hourly - which is fine. So it's nice that it was only monetary and not because of the work I do.

Last Sunday (the 20th) giggledad and my gigglestepmom had me over for an early dinner and they'd given me a few bucks, so -- PRIOR to knowing any of the poop was about to hit the fan -- I went to barnes & noble and bought "The Power of Positive Thinking".

I didn't crack it open on my birthday... until around midnight that night. At that point I was tired, so I only read 3 paragraphs. three. Then I fell asleep.

The phone call with the stinky news woke me up the next day, but, I applied those 3 paragraphs to my thoughts over the past week. I really need to hunker down and read the rest of the book - maybe this weekend since I've really got to crank out this new site for this girl. (of course, I'll post the link when I am finished)

I kept telling myself that my life is filled with wealth and abundance over and over. That's when I received the news about the new job, the news from the accountant telling me we're still on and also news about the possibility of a kick arse opportunity that might be coming down the pike (WHEN THAT HAPPENS, I will definitely post things here. Let's just say there's a chance I might be trekking somewhere for a few days.)

So... that's what's been happening.

(oh. and I haven't lost any more weight. I think I'll start saying "I am a skinny chick" over and over in order to get down to my goal weight.)

okay - so I will turn FORTY this monday. yeah. yay! actually i'm okay with it.

i felt that this was the perfect time to "re-vamp" ol' gigglechick.com since I've had the old maroon/giggleteeth look since '05

bear with me as I tool around with the layout and links and all that good stuff. hopefully it will get me pumped up to blog some more... (besides saying what I weigh... which has been hovering around the last number I'd posted.)

okay... so, last night when I weighed in I had a good number... but since I NORMALLY weigh myself in the morning, I re-did the hopping on the scale thing... (i really need to get back to writing the food & calories, etc down on here like i had been doing early on.)

anyway... my 9:15am weigh-in:

weight: 214.0 lbs
body fat: 80.7 lbs
body fat %: 37.7 %
body water: 45.5 %
bone mass: 6.9 %
body mass index (BMI): 34.4 lbs

so this week, I've lost 4.3 pounds... ( and 1.8 pounds since 12:45am --- i can do this in my sleep! woo!)

the total thus far since March 23rd is 26.3 pounds GONE!

okay - so, normally I weigh-in first thing in the morning.

for some reason i weighed in tonight at 12:47am (I'm going to re-weigh-in tomorrow morning to see how much of a difference the overnight makes)

here's the 12:47am weigh-in stats:


my weigh-in...

weight: 215.8 lbs
body fat: 81.6 lbs
body fat %: 37.8 %
body water: 45.4 %
bone mass: 6.9 %
body mass index (BMI): 34.7 lbs


HOORAY!! (i say hooray because i ate 2 hot dogs, macaroni salad, a london broil sandwich, a giant iced coffee and strawberries throughout the day --- not to mention monday I made gigantor french toast with whipped cream, syrup, strawberries and pineapple... oh... and bacon. monday night's dinner was a bucket of london broil, baked potato with butter and asparagus. sunday i went to the UL and ate shimp and clams and drank beeeeeer... then we went to gee-gee's and had 2 slices of pizza. there were cheeseburgers and hot dogs throughout the week as well.)

So, as far as the late night scale tipping goes, I'm down 24.5 pounds since March 23rd!

okay those aren't the odds... those are still the days left before I turn 40!

doing pretty well (could be doing better with the food intake, but, i'm doing okay.)

I have to weigh in at WW at 5pm today... but, the main weigh-in that i've been counting since march 23rd has been the at home one.

today I weighed in...

bone mass: 6.9 %

HUZZAH!!

So, I am officially 20.2 pounds lighter than I was on March 23!!!!

okay - so I went to weight watchers tonight (gigglecousin and i re-joined last week.) according to THAT scale there, I've lost 2.6 pounds this week. we'll see what MY scale says when I weigh in here at home (nekkid as a jay bird first thing in the morning) tomorrow.

i'm too lazy right now to figure out the calories/points/etc for my food intake today...

breakfast:
high fiber oatmeal
iced toasted almond coffee
skim milk
1 sugar

dinner:
garden vegetable soup
balsamic bleu salad (atlanta bread)
1/2 chicken waldorf sandwich on baguette


so, we'll see what the what is tomorrow morning. i haven't been all that great with the eating this past week (last night I had a pasta dish and tira misu from Carrabba's --- i think they totally effed up the tira misu though. it tasted like it was soaked in whiskey rather than coffee liqueur...

don't get me wrong, i ate it anyway.

gigglemom is on my desktop & the laptop is being repaired... meant to post that I had 2 slices of double fibre wheat bread with butter, 3 string cheese, 2 iced coffees with skim milk & 1 sugar each, 1 baked chicken breast, fruit cocktail and 2 cups of rice today. not bad. will organize this better later.

UPDATE:

okay - was able to regain control of the desktop for a moment...
remember the other day when I said I bought a new scale? okay, well, it's one of those fancypants ones that has all the bells and whistles that tell you how fat you are.

i know i should weigh in during the morning, but, i wanted to set the thing up... so, keep in mind that I stepped on this thing at 1am (with a belly full of the aforementioned food.)

body fat: 87.7 lbs
body fat %: 38.7 %
body water: 44.7 %
bone mass: 6.9 %
body mass index (BMI): 36.0 lbs

wow. i haven't posted an entry that mentioned "the countdown" since April 20th. I suppose since it was 62 days back then, that 49 days is correct. cuss. 49 days.

okay, well... time to get (and forgive me for saying this) crack-a-lackin'.

last night, gigglecousin texted me to see if i wanted to join weight watchers today... here's the skinny on that: for the past 4 years I've been paying monthly dues to WW even when i haven't gone for months at a clip... kept the account alive "just in case" i went back at any time.

last TUESDAY I actually canceled the cussin' thing. but now i'll be starting it back up again today (not that i really want to figure out the points and all that. I kinda like just writing down all the details like i had been doing.)

it figures.

anyway... woke up. decided to get back on the high fiber oatmeal bandwagon this morning.

will post food updates later.

okay --- so, technically i haven't been what one would consider "BEING GOOD" with the healthy eating (this has been since I adopted Gigglepup one month ago today actually!)

as you might have noticed, I haven't been posting my food intake/calories/etc in 30 days.

in fact, in the past week, I've eaten:
mcdonald's 20 pc mcnugget
mcdonald's double quarter pounder with cheese
2 mcd's large fries

windmill hot dogs (4)
windmill fries (2)
windmill cheeseburger with fried onions

wendy's triple cheeseburger (yes. I did write triple)
wendy's large fries

about 7 large coca-colas

boston market chicken pot pie
boston market green beans

starbucks venti coffee frappuchino

7 days worth of dunkin donuts sausage and cheese on a croissant
tons of iced toasted almond coffee with skim milk and 1 sugar each

17 pierogies
1 kielbasa

2 lean cuisine little pizzas

1 large thin crust pizza (not lean cuisine)

slice of chocolate cake

okay - that's about all I can remember eating...

so I stepped on the scale today to just see what my weight was --- because I was sure it was going to be absolutely FRIGHTENING.

i was shocked when it was still the 225 I was on April 20th... so I was thinking that the scale was effed. totally effed. and i moved it around various places on the floor. still 225.

SO.... I WENT TO TARGET AND BOUGHT A NEW SCALE.

came home. stepped on it.

225.6 pounds.

holy smokes. my original scale wasn't terribly off. ah, I wanted to get a new scale anyway...

but really? after all that? of course, if i HAD been watching my calories, I probably would be down a lot more in the weight dept. ---- so, at least I'm not discouraged.

Okay... well, I read the excerpt to Gigglemom and she said "Jeezuz... and she's WRITING about it? She's worse than YOU with the dirty laundry... then again, if you had that story to tell, i suppose you would be writing it too."

yeah... no. I don't have - nor have I ever had - a cocaine vagina. I've never dated anyone with a drug addiction like that.

I mean, I've dated "addicts" before - food addicts, but the most I'd ever walk away with was a "Bacon Vagina" from them.
